We photograph your original artwork, whatever medium, size or format in our specially designed photographic studio.
Using the ideal combination of a traditional large format studio camera, cutting edge digital imaging and colour controlled lighting, our photographic setup can document any size artwork anytime, anywhere.
The versatility of a large format studio camera is unparalleled and the pinpoint accuracy of digital imaging enables us to deal with the most complex tasks you can throw at us. With complete control of our lighting we have the ability to emphasise or minimise texture as required.
Producing a maximum file size of 378mb RGB (504mb CMYK) or 10800×12000 pixels, the image quality from our Powerphase FX digital back is future proof, enabling us to archive your art work for tomorrow’s generations.
This very high quality equipment combined with our expertise means we can offer the best fine art documentation service currently available.
PHOTOGRAPHY FOR PRINT
As part of a carefully colour managed workflow, we photograph original artworks with the print already in mind, paying particular attention to a sympathetic reproduction of tones and textures. The digital file is exhaustively retouched and proofed to ensure the best possible match to the original. There are inevitable compromises in every reproduction – this is exactly what distinguishes the original and maintains its desirability – so we take great care to consider exactly where they occur to ensure the mood of the original is perpetuated.
PHOTOGRAPHY FOR ARCHIVE
Exactly the same meticulous care is taken in ensuring our images capture every last detail. The digital file is subsequently examined and retouched to your specifications. Finally it gets burnt to CD or DVD as an uncompressed TIFF file with the industry standard Adobe RGB colour profile attached. This gives you entirely ‘device independent’ images.

All our prints are made on acid free archival papers and canvases using lightfast pigment inks, giving you museum quality images which stand the test of time.
Our expertise and commitment to perfection ensure you get a consistent high quality print service time after time. We only use acid free archival papers and canvases, and we are happy to help you choose the materials that are best for your project.
The four materials described below are always in stock. But we can get any speciality substrates or anything specific if you know that’s what your project needs. Anyway, we’re always excited to try out something new or unconventional.
FELT & SUPERFINE
At 310gsm these felt and superfine papers are fast establishing themselves as leading players in the digital fine art market due to their all round performance. A natural white base, great colour and deep blacks make them our preferred choice on the majority of projects.
VELVET
A bright white fine art watercolour paper with a soft texture and very good colour reproduction, Somerset has long been a popular choice with artists and printmakers alike. The 330gsm Velvet is a crisp, clean paper which lends itself particularly well to graphic art and watercolour reproduction.
FINE ART CANVAS
A 350gsm matt textured canvas with as good colour reproduction as any fine art paper, this canvas makes the best of your images and gives you a different dimension in presentation.
PHOTOGRAPHIC LUSTRE
In our opinion, the most genuine feeling photographic paper available. Very little gloss differential or bronzing, excellent colour, deep blacks and a very precise feel. Almost indistinguishable from an afternoon in the darkroom.
Printing at up to 2880dpi, our Epson 11880 produces such high quality prints we barely need to check them these days. We do of course, but that’s because we’re meticulous.
